HSC/EWRS statement on priority groups for vaccination

The EU Health Security Committee (HSC) and the Early Warning and Response authorities (EWRS) have identified target and priority groups for the H1N1 vaccination. According to their statement the following groups should take precedence:
• All persons from 6 months old with underlying chronic conditions (e.g. Chronic respiratory diseases; chronic cardiovascular diseases and persons with congenital or acquired immunodeficiency) starting with those with most severe symptoms
• Pregnant women
• Health care workers
The ultimate responsibility for vaccination strategies shall remain with the Member States. The statement can be found here.
